Well said, Samara.
Fiona, you and I are definitely on the same page. I did exactly the same as you, prepared two boys for presenting their slideshows in class and they loved it, got great praise from their class peers (the most important praise of all!) and got a huge boost to their own self-esteem. You can’t beat it. Def worth a go for anyone who hasn’t tried it.
Hear! hear! Marlene. fully agree.
Thanks, Elaine and Deirdre. Got the Kahoot links and will add them to the website page.
I agree, Fionn, Michelle and Olivia. There are times when we can get totally bogged down with too many websites – get a few, try them, use them if useful and they do what you were hoping for and don’t stress over other options.
Start with akwebdesign.ie, Anne. Plug, plug! and don’t forget to tell others about it. I will be adding Fiona’s amazing Magic School.ai to the site over the next few weeks also.
Well said, Colm. I have already added your slideshow to the Course 2024 page.
Great work, Niamh. I like that you are clear on the personalised learning of pupils. I would go further and say that though personal goals are very important and we absolutely must move forward only at the child’s pace, we also must find opportunities for the pupil to shine in his own classroom, as the boost to self-esteem when his/her peers are taken aback by their classmates performance are worth their weight in gold. Google Slides can help here – SET helps pupil with their mainstream class project and the pupil is prepared to present their work in that class.
Well said Nicola. I particularly like that you tied the lot together with your conclusion…you must be used to writing assignments! I agree with your sentiments re professional development – every profession needs ongoing targeted training – if we want to provide a good service we have to have staff who are constantly looking to provide the best solutions.
Good luck with your teaching next year. I hope you find the resources really useful, Gemma and that they really do help your pupils. As others have mentioned though, there also has to be time to put ICT aside and go for a walk, run or play a game!
Great work, Deirdre. Teachers are great at personal reflection and I suppose THE time to do it is at the end of the year. Your reflections will fuel the coming year. As Therese mentions in her response to Marlene’s post, if you can make three changes to your current practice because of a course then the time spent is worthwhile. Well done and good luck next year.
Wowee, Therese, St. Mochta’s better watch out! I love your potential link up with classes on Google Classroom – this is exactly how you can challenge yourself. Have a go! Get involved!
Excellent work, Marlene. I really like “Differentiation is not as time consuming in SEN with ICT. You can tailor to all children’s needs in an engaging, more colourful and achievable way”. This is so true. It is what ICT can do to help SETs.
Got it, Caroline.
Covid taught us that Caroline, teacher and social contact are vital.
