Thanks, Kay. Well said and well done on creating the Kahoot! I have copied the link for the akwebdesign 2024 page.
Well said, Fiona. Voice note is a gamechanger for anyone with dyslexia, it is so simple to use on WhatsApp for example. The apps that are coming out including instant language translators, sign translations etc will be gamechangers for others – this is when technology works well, there are other sides also, dark web, gambling sites etc. where tech needs careful monitoring and parents need to be vigilant.
Very good points, Ciara. If we think about it, I suppose, we are so reliant on ICT now it’s unavoidable, banking, booking flights, shopping etc – we just need to TRY to keep it under control and make it work for us.
Thanks, Cristin. Delighted you have had a go. Keep it up. We all need to challenge ourselves at times. Have a great summer.
Well said, Gemma and thanks for the kind comments. I agree it is very time-consuming to select sites and you are right to concentrate on only a few. You can’t beat fiddling around with the sites yourself so delighted to read that you intend to do just that, as teachers you then see the possibilities – but, as you said, everything in its place.
That link is blocked, Fiona. Could you save or move the slideshow to the Shared Drive.
Or click on the three dots of your slideshow (see image attached) you will be able to share BUT before you hit “Share” make sure you select from the dropdown menu at the bottom – currently “Restricted” to “Anyone with the Link” and then share with course2024@derrywashns.com

You must be logged in to view attached files.Well said Alan and Ann. We can’t stop change, we can only embrace it and use it as best we can. Websites like magic school show us how AI can be of benefit to schools.
Don’t forget chromebooks, Aoife as an option. Cheaper than iPads and just as useful.
You are right, Kelly-Louise. I hadn’t thought of that aspect of reducing the number of choices to make a quiz easier. Well said.
Well thought out and balanced, Mary. Couldn’t really argue with any of your points here. Well said.
Wow, well said, Diana.
Your slideshow is already in the Shared Drive, Alan.
Hi Ann. Well said. And you are correct that Google extensions are a great add-on for pupils with SEN – especially Read and Write for Google Chrome (we never got to this). This is still free for teachers who fill in the form – it adds quite a number of useful tools for pupils – all in one toolbar.

Scroll down the page above to the bottom and you will see the link to Read and Write and the sign up button at the end….when you click on that link, scroll down to the bottom and you will see the free for teachers link. No one said it is very easy if it’s free!
Thanks, Elaine for the plug for akwebdesign.ie!
Thanks, Alison. Delighted you found it useful.
Thanks, Kelly, Kay and Mairead, for your kind comments. We both worked very hard putting the course together, delighted that you all found it useful. You are right there is a time and place for everything and sometimes a good run is much more beneficial. Well done, Kay on your achievements this week – delighted you feel empowered and you are so right, every time we empower a pupil to feel achievement and so boost their self-esteem we are on a winner.
