Well said, Lisa. I spend a lot of time fiddling around, trying to find out how to use a website or website tool, but I console myself in knowing that there is no such thing as wasted time when fiddling, what you learn by accident (but weren’t trying to learn) will be of use some other time and when you eventually find how to change the background it will never be forgotten – because you stuck with it.
Well done, Elaine and I have copied over your Kahoot link. I will upload it over the weekend to the Course webpage (after the slideshows).
Brilliant strategy, Emma. Our biggest mistake as SEN teachers is setting targets that aren’t realistic – little steps and have fun on the way. Well said.
Well said, Elaine (and you too, Sarah – have copied your Kahoot link by the way), if Covid proved anything it was that ICT is only an add-on and can never replace face-to-face interaction. I love your emphasis on fun, Elaine, when pupils are having fun there is much more engagement and though learning is taking place that’s a by-product of having fun!
Excellent summation, Joe. I think sometimes teachers need to made more aware of just how much free software there is and though the companies constantly look to trap you into signing up there is so much free that this usually is not necessary.
Very thorough answer, Sarah. I agree 100% with all you say especially the motivation, pupils with SEN are naturally drawn to computers.

No argument here, Marie. Well said, especially on the need for Internet safety, though as you mention, there has to be trust also.
Exactly what I was thinking, Fiona. Well done, Noelle. Hadn’t really thought about the private feedback aspect but you are so right. I used to take all the sixth class pupils (not just the pupils with SEN) to my room, during the month of June, one by one to go through their Sigma and Micra-T tests to show them where they did well and where they struggled. As you have mentioned, they really appreciated the one-to-one support and advice.
Well done, Emma. Have already replied to you by email on your super Kahoot. Have a great summer.
Brilliant, Marie. Well done. I will certainly be adding your website suggestions to the SEN section of my website. Delighted that you found the course useful. Have a great summer.
That’s brilliant, Blaithin. Novel use of Google Slides but should work very well. Good luck with it.
Thanks for that post, Imelda. Delighted you can see immediately how you could use them.
Thanks, Julie, Onra and Emma and Emma you got it in one. It is totally free and every pupil in the school can have a Google Apps account with 15 GB of cloud storage completely free of charge and unlike Microsoft there is only one version of the software as it’s online. Pupils can work in groups together on a single slideshow, you are doing Slide 2 only, you are doing Slide 3 and they can all see each other working on other slides as they are working on theirs. Magic!
So well said, Mairead (and quite poetic!) Delighted that you are going to give Google Slides a go next year. Chromebooks are ideal for Slides. Just remember that ALL the tools are there, as with the desktop version, but some are not in the same place!
