I have found the same with children making the connection between a 3d shape and it’s net. Mathigon would be a great resource for children who struggle to make that connection.

Mathigon was a great resource for shapes that children could use alongside physical resources. The way you could split 3D shapes into their net was great as I have found that it can be difficult for some children to make the connection between a 3D shape and its net.

Jamboard is another great resource which could be implemented relatively easily in the class. Great for children to be able to share their work and ask questions on the board. This would be great for many subjects across the curriculum.

Really enjoyed this module. Lots of great ideas which could be used in junior up to senior end of the school. I’ve always enjoyed ‘design and make’ activities in class so it’s great to get some new ideas to try out in the classroom, in particular the sunglasses activity. It leaves lots of room for creativity in their planning and designs.

The problems and challenges were great too. Giving one of these daily/weekly would be a great challenge for students to try and figure out individually or collaboratively.

Some good ideas here on Speakpipe and its uses which as you stated really are endless.

Great idea on using the storybook resource to recount experiments and investigations covered in the class. Great way of children self assessing their learning when writing about it afterwards.

    Task 1:

    Task 2:

Balancing challenges were surprisingly challenging. I can imagine the children really enjoying getting to try them out in class in September. I can see them enjoying seeing how difficult the teacher finds them too!

    Task 3:

    Socrative quiz complete.

Really enjoyed the module today and thought the ideas and suggestions put forward were great. The standout from the whole course has been all the fantastic resources that are available online to teachers at no real cost. Can see myself using many of them going forward into the new school year.

Great idea to integrate the dance with PE! I’m sure the children would love that.

Some great resources and activities on show today which would be great to use in the classroom. Loved how easy to use and make the resources were like the paper spinners. Great idea in including the ‘going rogue’ aspect of it as it offers a creative challenge for students which I can imagine they would really enjoy.

Nearpod looks like a great resource and one children could really engage with. Added bonus of having the library of premade lessons/videos. The odd one out activity and the venn diagram were both great ideas that I’m looking forward to making use of in the class.

This module was full of great ideas to use in the class. I intend to make use of the ideas of designing a chair with my class in the coming year. I loved the integration with literacy in the Titanic story.

    Dry teabags – estimation 12 actual 9

    Wet teabags – estimation 15 actual 19

Build  a boat challenge – I used a square of cardboard for the base which I surrounded with tinfoil to give it shape and keep the cardboard dry. It worked well and could hold 8 sharpie markers.
