    HI Imelda,

    Yes the challenge can be the broadband wifi connection. I had forgotten about this issue.  Our school had its wifi improved and you can take it for granted but definitely an issue if the resource required interaction as they can slow down and cause frustration.

    Yes these online CPD course offered to us are invaluable. The benefit of blending learning is great.  If this course was face to face I could not have engaged in it.  The flexibility of uploading final tasks was great as it allows you to manage family commitments.

    HI Mairead

    I had a go at your Kahoot.  You created a theme on time which was good.

    I just created a numeracy challenge of various themes patterns, addition, multiplication & time and found out that you could use a question bank. This allowed me to get around not having to pay to use images on the Kahoot for each question.

    Hi Fiona

    After going through the presentation I would really like to incorporate more conferencing with the student. I am grateful for you sharing the ASD profile all about me & liked the section for student voice “You can help me if I am anxious or upset by …….”
    In post primary I can tend to just want to help without getting ideas from the student that I could use for my subject or if I have for resource can inform other subject teachers with students own words. I liked the example of Mr Swift conferencing with pupils verbally, provides prompt feedback, can be encouraging, helps pupil identify where to improve themselves and away they go eager to improve. Scheduling/planning this so it becomes a routine would allow for student voice and it’s individualised. The student is also selecting the good parts and areas for improvement when prompted by good questioning. The use of a rubric is also tangible and would help with self/peer assessment

    Hi Onra,

    Thanks for sharing the link to Blooms Taxonomy Questions

    I had a look and downloaded a copy I really like the revised version from 2001 using the headings Remember Understand Apply Anaylse Evaluate & Create.  The questions starters are a go to so I can address the higher order domain and be more challenging with my questioning.

    During a questioning I like the students to try and build on a peers answer how can they add to it to develop the answer.

    Students just want to answer it is a challenging encouraging them to expand and support answers.

    I also use peer assessment.  I do encourage the students to say & note two things positive about the work being assessed & to explain clearly how their peer could improve their work/ answer.  This would be after going through the success criteria & model answer on board.  They are encouraged to check back and see if the student improves & has taken on board their advice. The students really have to engage & listen when correcting another students work.  Some just switch off if correcting their own work.

    I use the acronym F.I.S.H

    F = friendly

    I = Informative

    S= Specific

    H= Honesty

    Hi kitty,  thanks for stating how you use the top marks resource.  I could  use the daily 10 for maths support and encourage them to practice practice to improve confidence.

    I like that you allow SEN students to use calculators as even the ability to use the calculator at post primary is a struggle for a many students not even AEN as we call it additional educational needs students find it hard to master.

    I agree. http://Www.teachingtime.co.uk. I like the option of being able to show the digital time with the analogue clock.  I am in post primary and many students are unable to read my analogue clock on the wall.  Only use to their mobile phone, which is the digital clock.  Many students when asked don’t have an analogue clock in the home, so it is not familiar.  The worksheets will provide opportunity to practice & grow in confidence.  One teacher has actually purchased a digital clock for classroom as so many can’t read analogue clock.
