    Task 1:
Cube creator. I love how simple this idea is and how it can be used across the curriculum. The children will love using this online tool. My cube is attached below.(Had to be done on my phone so thats why it might look different)

    Taks 2: balance task
I chose the task to put one foot and shoulder against the wall. I could not lift my leg out to the side as my other leg was not centred underneath me. I would have to have one leg directly underneath to be able to move my other leg.

I loved the simple ideas of stories for maths like ‘maths and the circus’ and supermarket maths. Its great when you can use resources like the supermaket brochure to creat a great lesson.

I really enjoyed the odd one out actovity today. Again, its a very sinple way of the children to choose objects based on their atteibutes, and alloes them to work on their reasoning skills.
I thought the paper spinners were a fun activity and will definitely be using the template with my class. I will ensure to give the students lots of time to play with them too so that they can all be focused when we move onto the testing part.

I agree – the stem bags are a fantastic and easy way to have manipulatives to cover a range on different topics. It allows the childre to be ‘in charge’ of their own stem bag too!

I agree with you – it’s great to be able to use resources lying around the house or the classroon to create a fun experiment!

    Teabag experiment:

Dry teabag – Estimation: 10 feet  – Actual: 16 feet

Wet teabag – Estimation: 20 feet – Actual: 23 feet

    Lifeboat experiment:

I used tinfoil as my base for the lifeboat. It was quite strong tinfoil so I had an advantage! I was able to put in 13 strawberries before one of the edges started leaving water in. I loved this experiment because it shows that you can use everyday matertials to makea fun experiment. I’ll definitely be using this in the classroom. It’s a gret idea for exploring the strand measurement in Maths.

I thought the idea of creating an algorithm is very interesting because it gets more than one pupil involved in the activity, and allows them to be cretive and use characters from books they have read or seen on TV.

Day 1 offered many resources that are extremely useful in the classroom. We used many maths websites throughout the day for the different tasks which was great to see how they are used in different scenarios. I will definitely be using jamboard as a means of communicating with the class and as a forum to post replies to certain subjects.

I loved the idea of a STEM bag as that can be used accross the day and accross the curriculum. It is a very diverse idea which is simply made from things around the classroom.

I found the day 2 activities and excercises really beneficial and will definitely be using them in my classroom. As an SET teacher, the use of stories is a must, and I really enjoyed Day Monkey Night Monkey. Its so important to use concrete materials with students with special educational needs and its great to have resources like stories to work from.

I love the concept of weekly / daily challenges that can we found on the brebas.techweek website. Its definitely more suited towards mainstream class levels but it’s one that I will be passing on to my collleagues for sure.
